The active ingredients include glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM. Glucosamine is a natural compound that is found in healthy cartilage in both humans and pets. It helps hydrate healthy joints by increasing the production of molecules that bind and hold water in the cartilage. Healthy cartilage provides cushioning which helps protect a pet's joints while exercising. Many believe that it provides clinical benefit in the synovial fluid by strengthening cartilage and aiding glycosaminoglycan synthesis. Cautions:

How this product should be used:
The usual dose for dogs up to 10 lbs is ? tablet once a day, for dogs 10 to 24 lbs give ? tablet daily, for dogs 25-100 lbs give 1 tablet daily and for dogs over 100 lbs give 2 tablets daily It is recommended that double the amount should be given for the first 6 weeks then reduce gradually over a 3 week period to the recommended dose.

Side effects are rare but may include diarrhea.
What special precautions are there:
This product is not intended to be used in place of other treatments in the presence of an infection, or if surgery is needed. This product contains artificial beef flavor.
